What Is STEM education?
STEM education focuses on four core areas: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, which means these core subjects are integrated into all academics for a cohesive learning approach. The STEM approach also emphasizes real-world applications so that students learn how these disciplines work in different fields.
Why STEM education matters
The true purpose of STEM education is to prepare today’s students for the jobs and careers of tomorrow. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that demand will be high in certain fields, such as computers, engineering, life sciences, and math. STEM fields are expected to grow 8% by the year 2029 (compared to 3.7% among other occupations).
